Jay Adams is the founder of the modern biblical counseling movement and the author of the groundbreaking book Competent to Counsel.

Dr. Adams has served on the faculty of two theological seminaries and has been a pastor and church planter. Among the 100 books he has
written over his lifetime are The Christian Counselor's Manual, Theology of Counseling, How to Help People Change, Handbook of Church Discipline, From Forgiven to Forgiving, Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage in the Bible, and Preaching With Purpose.

He is the founder of the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF) and the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC formerly NANC). He now serves as the Dean of the Institute for Nouthetic Studies.
